Governing Board

The role of the governing board is a strategic one, its key functions are to:

Meet the current MDCPS governors.

Sue Bryars: Chair of Governors

I have been involved in education all my life, ultimately retiring as Head of Humanities at a local secondary school.  More recently, I have been fascinated by my grandchildren’s education in the primary sector, which encouraged me to become a governor.  Therefore, I am delighted to be part of Market Deeping Community Primary school in this capacity.

Nigel Manders-Jones: Staff Governor and Head.

Karen Brisbane: Parent Governor

I moved to Market Deeping with my husband Marc and son Rio-Che in January 2013 and became a parent governor in May 2014.

I work for an American software company with our UK HQ near Reading in Berkshire and have held various positions during my 18 year tenure, currently working from home as a Contracts Manager for our Global Services team.

In my free time I enjoy cycling – it’s so lovely and flat around here, cooking and watching all the soaps on TV much to my husband’s dismay!

Pam Hart: Parent Governor

I am a busy working Mum with my own business. I have two children, one of whom has gone through the school and on to The Deepings School and the other is currently in year four.  I have been a Governor at the MDCP school for five years and have the responsibility of being the SEND governor.  I was co-opted onto the board as a link with the Children's Centre where I am also a member of the Advisory Board. I have also been associated with the school's PTFA for the last 9 years.

Amanda Sylvester: Parent Governor

I am a parent governor and have a son currently in yr 1. I work with safeguarding children in my professional capacity and so am keen to assist the school particularly in this area.

Tony Eberle: Community Governor

I moved to Market Deeping in 1993 following the relocation of my employers to Peterborough.

I decided to become a  school governor to give something back to the community. I was previously a governor at another primary school. Was pleased to be asked to be a governor of this school last April.

Sue Bell: Community Governor

I have been on the governing body since 2008.   My youngest two children and, subsequently my grandchildren, have attended this school.

I am the Manager of Madcaps Out Of School Club on the school site and am passionate about ensuring that we give the children a wide variety of opportunities whilst they are at our school.  I am also proud of the strong links which have been forged with the other schools in  the area.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my large family of  grandchildren and great-grandchildren – no change from my day job!  My hobbies are reading, gardening, sewing and cooking (my family prefer to call it burning!)

David Johnson: Associate Governor and Deputy Head.
Lisa Burton: Staff Governor

I have been a member of staff at MDCPS for a considerable number of years.  I have a very solid insight and understanding of the expectations, challenges and needs of a school like ours. My particular strength is in Foundation/Key Stage 1 and I have some understanding of Key Stage 2.

I plan to contribute to the future work of the Governing Body by being supportive and contributing in any way I can to its continued improvement and success.

Sally Mardling: Co-opted Governor

I am a co-opted member of the Governing Body and I am Pastoral Manager at the School. I have nearly 30 years of teaching experience, the last 15 here in Market Deeping.  I have a particular interest in Special Education and my aim is to help every child to succeed and discover their own unique talents.

Sarah Philips: Clerk To Governors
