Our new topic is Growing and this week we have been reading Jack and the Beanstalk. In maths we have been measuring using giant footprints. We have been using language such as big, long, longer, shorter, small, longest and shortest. We have been measuring footprints using non-standard units such as cubes. Who has the biggest footprint in your house?
This term at Forest School, we have enjoyed cooking real food on the campfire. We had a go at making our own bread dough and then we watched it being cooked on the real fire. We really enjoyed watching and.......eating the bread with either jam or honey. We also made caterpillars, snakes and necklaces using the natural wood from trees, by threading it through string. We also discovered a new tunnel to explore and found lots of wood to bring back to the campfire. We learnt about fire safety and had to be very careful in the fire circle. We had to watch from a distance but enjoyed the experience. Finally we had a go at making bird feeders, using pine cones, lard, bird seed and string. We hung them up around the forest school grounds. We have loved going and can't wait to go again next year!
World Book Day
We had a fantastic day, hearing and sharing stories and dressing up as our favorite characters. In the morning some parents came in to share stories with us and we shared our favorite stories with them. In assembly we looked at everyone's costume and chose the best dressed from each. In the afternoon we went into other classrooms and shared stories with older children who helped us to read and then read some stories to us. We had a fantastic day celebrating different stories and got a voucher each to take home and spend!
