Eiffel Tower Construction Challenge!

On Monday 16th January, we found out that the Eiffel Tower was designed by Gustave Eiffel in 1889 and that until 1930 it was the tallest building in the world!

We discovered that the Eiffel Tower was constructed in 3 main stages and we worked in teams to construct the base layer using only spaghetti and marshmallows.

We used the TASC Wheel to support our thinking, as we approached, tackled and solved this problem. It is more difficult than it looks!

Art inspired by Kandinsky

Wassily Kandinsky was born in Moscow, Russia on 16th December 1866. He grew up in the Russian city of Odessa where he enjoyed music and learned to play the cello and piano. He went to an art school in Munich, Germany and the work of painters like Claude Monet inspired him to create his own beautiful and unique artwork.

Colour Study: Squares with Concentric Circles (1913)

On Thursday 9th February, we used oil pastels to design a piece of artwork, inspired by Kandinsky.

Science: What Plants Need

We began our Science topic on Wednesday 4th January by exploring the playground to find out where plants were growing well (thriving) and where plants were not growing very well (struggling) or not growing at all. We explored the playground in two groups and compared what we had found out when we returned to the classroom.
