Term 4

During terms 4 and 5, we are looking at World War II. Over the two terms, we will be finding out about the reasons why the war started, who were the main leaders involved, and what life was like for people in Britain during the war years. Through our English work, we will look at diary writing, letters and propaganda. We will also cook and taste some rationing recipes as well as visiting IWM Duxford to experience some hands-on activities with WWII artefacts.

Our maths work will include methods for short multiplication and division, applying them to different contexts. We will be extending our knowledge of fractions by learning how to multiply them, and also convert improper fractions and mixed numbers. We will also work with properties of shape including parallel and perpendicular lines and angles, leading us to classifying polygons and explaining our reasoning.

In science, we will complete our topic on life cycles before returning to properties of materials, focusing this time on irreversible changes.
