What was your favourite activity at Kingswood?

Kingswood

We have set up this guestbook to allow our parents to leave comments based on the pictures shared...

Day 1 Photos

We really enjoyed our visit to the Green Britain Eco Centre and we all managed to conquer our fears and climb to the very top of the turbine, which was rotating at a good speed in the windy conditions! We then carried out some experiments to try and create our own mini-turbines, where we had to decide on the positioning and number of the blades.

After that, we headed off to Kingswood and arrived at 2:30pm. We have since enjoyed a tour of the facilities and settled into our rooms - making our own beds which was a challenge for some of us... We then enjoyed our first meal and then headed off for our first ICT session, where we have started to design our own games using Kodu.

We will soon finish our first night time activity, which is called the Mini Olympics, but should really be called the muddy olympics and will then head back to our rooms to get some sleep after a very busy day! Before we go, we'll enjoy a lovely warm cup of hot chocolate and a nice warm shower to help us drift off to sleep - ready for our exhilarating activities tomorrow...

We hope that you have plenty of washing powder ready...

The morning of Day 2 at Kingswood...

Good morning from Kingswood, where the weather is overcast but warm and most importantly DRY!

We have just enjoyed our first hot breakfast of bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, beans and toast - as well as some fresh pineapple, melon and watermelon. We all got off to sleep well and didn't wake until gone 7am. Everyone slept well and our first room inspection went fairly well.

We are going to our first ICT session of the day soon and will then be enjoying outdoor laser or jungle vines - depending on our groups. One group will be taking on the Leap of Faith challenge later today so the excitement is building...

Day 2 Evening update...

We have had a very busy day since our morning update and have completed some really fun and challenging outdoor activities, including 'The Leap of Faith', Jungle Vines, Abseiling and Problem Solving. We've also been learning all about stop-go animation in our ICT sessions and then finished the day by honing our circus trick skills...

We've shown real determination and have really been working on our core goals of: actively listening, having a positive can-do attitude, being supportive of one another and finally working together as a team. There have been countless examples of this today and we couldn't be prouder of all of the children.

We hope you enjoy looking at these photos, which go some way in capturing the fun times that we are all having. The children are all tucked up in bed now as this is being updated, getting a good nights sleep so that we are ready to go again tomorrow.

PS: See if you can spot the photo that was taken by one of our children - with the aim of catching Mr Johnson mid-jump on the Leap of Faith...

Day 3 at Kingswood

We have had another excellent day trying out lots of great new activities such as: archery, fencing, problem solving and climbing, in addition to more ICT sessions.

We have all continued to show great determination and have achieved or exceeded our personal targets, with the support given by our friends and the adults we are working with. The weather has continued to be fantastic and we are hoping that this continues tomorrow as we are heading to the local beach at Overstrand to investigate coastal defences in action!

We are currently enjoying a movie and some sweets and treats at the end of another successful and rewarding day. Many thanks for the messages that have been sent on our Kingswood Guestbook and we hope that you enjoy viewing the latest installment of photos below...

Day 4 at Kingswood

Well we are reaching the end of our last whole day at Kingswood and it has been another action packed adventure. We have enjoyed taking part in Nightline and have also carried out our field trip to the local Overstrand beach to see coastal defences in action. In addition, we have been working on another new ICT programme, where we have been piecing together pictures of our trip, alongside a music soundtrack and graphic transitions...

We are now working on our DEFRA coastal defence presentations and will then quickly get changed and glammed up for the Kingswood Disco, where we will learn a new dance routine, to include in our upcoming class assembly (details coming soon...)

Although we have all had a fantastic time and have benefited greatly from our experience, we are all looking forward to heading back home tomorrow.

Only Jungle Vines and the Leap of Faith remain tomorrow morning... Who will climb to the very top?

Pictures from Nightline and Archery...

Here are the last photo updates from our visit to the beach...

We visited the beach to investigate sea defences in action after studying erosion back at school and had a great time putting our ideas and learning into action by building some sandcastles complete with barriers. It was great to get some sea air and stretch our legs outside of the Kingswood site...

And last but not least... THE DISCO!
