Sports matches, tournaments and events

Autumn Term 2017

Tag Rugby Tuesday 3rd October

Our first Sports Event of the year was a Tag Rugby festival at Bourne RFC. Twenty four children from Year 3 and 4 attended the event and had a great time - some of them ended up as winners in the mini tournament held at the end of the year. What a great introduction to rugby for lots of our pupils!

Golf Monday 16th October

Charity Golf Tournament at Toft Golf Club, hosted by Bourne Westfield to raise money for Bourne Rotary Club. Six of our KS2 pupils were chosen to attend and experience golf for the first time. They had lots of fun and learnt some great new skills!

Football u11 Wednesday 1st November

Under 11 football team tournament.  The team got through the group stages but lost 1-0 in the knock out stage of the tournament hosted by The Deeping School.

Netball u11 Autumn Term

This term our lovely team of netballers travelled to Baston for 4 weeks of matches every Tuesday or Thursday. We played against Baston A, Baston B, Linchfield A, Linchfield B, William Hildyard, Deeping St James and Langtoft. We faced some tough opposition but each week we got better and better!

After the first week, we focused on movement and interceptions, and this was clear in our second week of games where we chased the ball down more and intercepted it more too! After the second week, we practised driving into the space to receive the ball which meant that our play down the court improved hugely. In the final week we put all this together which resulted in our best performances where we marked closely, moved brilliantly and worked fantastically as a team. Unfortunately we weren’t able to win but we are pleased with our progress!

Now we are off to practise our shooting ready for our next round of games in January, where hopefully we will be victorious!

Deeping Swimming Gala Thursday 16th November

Four teams entered and all swimmers competed well.  Our Year 6 swimmers were missed in the Y5/6 competition but our Year 5 girls did well to come 4th out of the 6 teams competing.
