In science, the children were set the task of separating flour, pasta and porridge oats. After a short discussion in their groups, the children used a sieve and colander to separate the materials. They presented their work on the iPads, and then assessed each other's work and gave them feedback.
The following week in science, we looked at the opposite. We investigated which solids would dissolve in water, and used a group of children to role play salt dissolving into water.
Building on from our dissolving lesson a fortnight ago, we investigated the solubility of salt, sugar and bicarbonate of soda.
To end our science topic, the children were given a mixture of salt, sand, paper clips and gravel to separate. They could only use filter paper, magnets, sieves and water to separate the materials into cups.
The children created their own Mola art of an animal using only coloured paper. All of the work turned out really well.
Our D.T. project this term has been biscuits - we have taste tested, conducted surveys before designing our own. On Thursday, the children made their biscuits before leaving them to cool to decorate them on Friday. The biscuits tasted very good.
